UrBC, Magnitogorsk, June 14, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won one of the prizes at the 1st all-Russian Best Purchasing Practices 2018 Contest. The prize went to the successful project on optimizing category purchases in online stores.

This is the first time a professional contest got organized for the purchasing experts. The judges’ panel looked into presentations on successful purchasing cases and practices that benefit both the customers’ budgets and the market on the whole through stimulating competition and enhancing the transparency of purchasing procedures.

The agenda of the event covered a series of personal brand-building workshops for the purchaser and the purchasing team. Only eleven companies from the many applicants actually got shortlisted. Senior Manager at Analytics & Category Purchases Management Process Group Dmitri Kamnev took part in the workshop on MMK’s behalf. MMK won a prize in Optimizing Category Purchases in Online Stores.

Online purchases are among the increasingly prevalent purchase types at MMK, as they cut down considerably on transaction costs, make the purchasing process much faster and simpler, and save money. Contracts get signed with the suppliers’ online stores beforehand to ensure company discounts. The plant uses the online stores to get metal goods, electrotechnical appliances, office supplies, cleaning supplies, and household goods.
