MMK proves one of Russia’s top five most frequently media-covered metal companies

October 9, 2014. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) was on the list of the top five Russian metallurgical companies most frequently referred to in the media in September 2014, Interfax refers to its SCAN (Complex News Analysis System) as indicating.

According to SCAN’s data, MMK was mentioned in the Russian media 1,686 times last month. Interfax believes a rating this high has to do with the fact that MMK announced they signed a memorandum on technical and scientific cooperation with ChTPZ Group and Kazakhstan’s KazTransOil; the news received extensive media coverage.

The rating, carried by Interfax for the first time, features 20 most frequently covered companies in the ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgical sector and in the pipe-manufacturing and precious and rare metal producing industries.

‘This Complex News Analysis System created by Interfax is actually a database comprising over 15,000 media sources plus in-depth analysis of text-based data and intelligent search functions. SCAN provides access to electronic archives of newspapers, magazines, information agencies, online media, and blogs and to professional tools for data monitoring and analysis. Some of the archives can be tracked to as much as twenty-five years back.
