Official unemployment rate in Yekaterinburg comes to 0.49%

September 5, 2014. 16,024 people have applied to Yekaterinburg Employment Center looking for a job since the beginning of 2014. 10,266 applicants found a suitable position; this figure comes to 47% of the officially registered jobless in the area, Sverdlovsk Region Labor & Employment Department’s press service reports.

As of September 1, 2014, 3,597 unemployed citizens were registered with the employment center. The official unemployment rate thus stood at 0.49%.

Sverdlovsk Region-based enterprises placed announcements for 31,469 job openings as of early September, including 8,006 vacancies for foreign workers (25.4% of all the positions available). 24,644 positions are meant for blue-collar workers (this comes to 72% of all the vacancies); 29,868 job openings cover for the monthly pay that is above the minimum living wage (8,379 RUR).

This means that, as of September 1, 2014, there were 8.7 vacancies per job-seeker in Yekaterinburg; the tension coefficient was 0.17.

Most vacancies are for the following professions: driver (1,868 openings), cook (1,135), engineer (993), picker (909), stone mason (813), fare inspector (724), steel fixer (681), concrete layer (661), and others.
