Over 5,000 workers are made to work part-time in Sverdlovsk Region on July 1

July 25, 2014. In January-June 2014, 76,964 people submitted job applications with Sverdlovsk Region’s employment agencies. The number of the unemployed in the total number of applicants was 74.6%, Sverdlovsk Region Labor & Employment Department’s press service says.

According to the department’s data, the number of applications for access to information on the labor market opportunities that were submitted to Sverdlovsk Region-based employment agencies stood at 39,219 applications by job-seekers and 11,077 applications by employers in the six months of 2014. The number of citizens who unregistered with the authorities in order to find a suitable job came to 76,439 people; 69.7% of these citizens unregistered because they had found a new position.

In January-June 2014, 35 organizations informed employment agencies about the possible large-scale layoffs of 5,210 people; 2,799 of them are expected to be re-hired prior to registering with the employment agencies. As of July 1, 2014, 5,392 people are now working part-time, 138 people are now on an unpaid leave, and 1,378 people have been ‘put on hold’ for the time being by their employers.
