July 16, 2014. Omsk-based Transport Machine-Building Design Bureau (KBTM, a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation) changed its name to Omsk Transport Machine-Building Plant (Omsktransmash).
According to the corporation's press service, the decision was made at the BOD meeting. The changes were registered with the fiscal authorities on July 8, 2014.
'Omsktransmash, the tank plant, the October Revolution plant – all of these are the different names given to one of the Russian economy's most important enterprises. It was there where the first railway workshops were built in 1896; it was from there that the famous T-34 tanks headed for the front. The worker team of Omsk Tank-Making Plant was awarded with the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, the Order of The Patriotic War of the 1st Class, and the Order of Badge of Honor. The plant was awarded four banners to keep forever: the one of the State Defence Committee, the one of the All-Union Central Trade Union Council and the Transport Construction Ministry, the one of the Defense Ministry and the one of the Union, Leninsky District Committee & District Executive Committee's Central Committee,' the press service says.
On January 29, 2010, KBTM (which already comprised two companies, KBTM and Omsktransmash) joined Uralvagonzavod Corporation. For the next four years, the enterprise was called Transport Machine-Building Design Bureau.
