May 14, 2014. Uraltransmash (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation) is going to deliver a set of low-floor trams to Yekaterinburg in preparation for the World Football Championship of 2018, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region’s Information Policies Department reports. Preliminarily, the order is expected to come to 50 new tramways.
‘We are planning to work on this project together to get ready for the World Cup. Under the FIFA requirements, passengers have to be transported in low-floor trams, which is crucial for mobility-impaired people. Uraltransmash and Uralvagonzavod management and our team are already working on this, so the delivery agreement is supposed to be signed at Innoprom premises in July,’ Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Evgeniy Kuivashev said during his meeting with Uraltransmash representatives on May 13, 2014.
