Mayakovsky Park in Yekaterinburg gets ready for World Cup 2014

May 7, 2014. A special site for holding a football supporters festival during the World Cup 2014 in Brazil is expected to be prepared in V.V. Mayakovsky Central Park in Yekaterinburg, the city's official web portal states.
The company that won the tender for the construction of the fan zone has already started working on this. Surveys revealed that the contractors will have to fortify the foundation with some rocky soil because the original layer is too thin. The builders are planning to select the soft soil in the area of 6,000 sq m, add some rocky soil, and then put some asphalt over it. A portion of the fan zone will be paved with tiles. According to the layout, the fan zone will be 1,5 hectares big.
'Upon the completion of the entire area, this place will host a stage, some food courts and shops, sponsor areas and an exhibition of globally recognized photography masterpieces (60 works by the best photographers and reporters that capture the unforgettable moments of world football championships starting form 1930,' the website states.
