Sverdlovsk Region unemployment rate comes to 1.24%

March 20, 2014. The official unemployment rate was registered at 1.24% in Sverdlovsk Region on March 1, 2014. This was 0.11% lower than a year earlier (1.35% on March 1, 2013). In 23 towns and cities within the federal constituency, the figure was actually even lower than in Sverdlovsk Region on the whole, the local Economics Ministry’s press service reports.
The number of the unemployed registered with the state-run employment agencies was 28,506 on March 1, 2014. The number of job openings advertised by the local employers is actually 1.4 times greater than the number of the unemployed. This means the ratio is 0.9 persons per vacancy.
The number of job openings submitted by Sverdlovsk Region-based employers came to 40,256 on March 1, 2014, which was 3,614 less than a year earlier.
Most of the jobs advertised are in Yekaterinburg (22,211 vacancies, or 55.2% of the total number of job openings), Nizhniy Tagil (2,336, or 5.8%), Pervouralsk (1,733, or 4.3%), Kamensk-Uralsky (1,726, or 4.2%), Berezovsky (1,257, or 3.1%), Asbest (775, or 1.9%), and Novouralsk (601, or 1.5%).
