Uralvagonzavod holds professional skills contest for young workers

December 10, 2013. The second professional and performance skills contest for young workers called Woman of Labor was held at Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s head plant, the corporation’s press service reports.
‘This year, twelve young women working as crane operators, lab assistants, engineers, electricians, assemblers, and so on competed for the title of the most gifted and charming employee. All of them went through the two selection rounds and took choreography and acting classes for a month with the best teachers from I.V. Okunev Palace of Culture; they also competed in the intermediary contests such as the culinary one, the IQ one, the swimming one, the video one, and the Weakest Link one,’ the press service says.
In the end of the contest, the participants took part in a catwalk show featuring business suits and evening gowns and in dance and acting sketches. Every young woman presented her individual performance to the spectators and the jurors. These included solo and duet singing in Russian and French (some of which was actually rap), poem-reciting, dancing, and a show of children’s hairstyles called Fancy Dress Mix.
‘The contestants impressed the public with the many facets of their talents. The teams from the Palace of Culture actually supported their performance as well,’ the message states.
All the young women were given participation certificates and cameras in the end. The Audience Award from Uralvagonzavod trade union and youth council went to Ekaterina Kraus, who was elected through spectator and social network voting. Kraus works as an electrician at the assembly department. Her final act was called Dance Fitness.
Elena Abdulgainiyeva, an engineer from the HR Department, won in the Charm Itself category with her oriental dance. Assembler Olesya Kondratenko with her love song in French won in the Strongest Link category. The women were presented with multicooker devices.
The title of Woman of Labor and the first prize (a TV set) was awarded to Elena Zakharova, an engineer from Uralvagonzavod’s Tagiltransmashproyekt. Her act consisted of a samba which she danced to the sound of drums. All of the participants were also given special prizes from the sponsors of the event.
