November 20, 2013. In 2014, Uralvagonzavod Corporation is planning to increase the production output of its 12-196-01 gondola cars with 12-194-01 bogies next year, the corporation’s Deputy DG for Railway Vehicles Andrei Shlenski said at the 4th annual Railway Vehicles Market Conference in Moscow.

‘The bogie makes it possible to prolong the between-repairs period up to 500,000 km and to increase freight capacity by 6,000 kg; it was designed specifically for the Russian railways. The gondola car and the bogie were developed by Ural Railway Building Design Office that is a member of Uralvagonzavod Corporation. The corporation is the leader in its market sector and uses its own innovative designs,’ the press release says.

If preferential tariffs are adopted for transportation of cargo in these innovative carriages with the 12-194-01 bogie produced by Uralvagonzavod and its partners, the total output might come to more than 12,000 units in 2014.
