TMK takes part in national green event

June 17, 2013. Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) took part in the All-Russian Zero Environmental Impact event that was coordinated by the Natural Resources Ministry as part of the Year of Environmental Protection in Russia and on the eve of the World Environmental Protection Day, TMK press service reports.
The event was targeted at demonstrating the business’s environmentally responsible status to the public: all of the company’s Russian assets coordinated special activities that could support careful use of natural resources and provided some practical contribution on the pipe manufacturers’ part to reducing the negative environmental impact.
For one, a new water research laboratory was opened at Sinara Pipe Plant. The lab’s advanced equipment takes the environmental monitoring of the surface and subsoil waters (and therefore the control over the company’s environmental footprint) to a totally new level. Then, given the technological possibility of a short-term stoppage, a scrap metal recycling unit was halted at Sinara Pipe Plant’s drop-hammer plant. Finally, VTZ electric steel-smelting shop was stopped for scheduled repairs, with 90 sack filters getting replaced at the gas- and dust-catching unit DSP-150.
