August 12, 2013. Aeroflot Russian Airlines, a partner of Yekaterinburg EXPO 2020 Application Committee, had the exhibition's official logo painted on the bodies of two of its aircraft, the airline's press service says.

The World Exhibition is one of the largest-scale international events with a many years' history. EXPO exhibitions are held every five years and last for six months. A decision to appoint a host country for the event is made by the government. EXPO 2020 has grown to become one of Russia's priority national projects, just like the Sochi Olympics in 2014 and the World Football Championship of 2018.

In fact, Ural Airlines also had the EXPO 2020 symbols painted on four of its A320 aircraft. The first such liner operated a flight in November 2012. All the painting jobs were done at the expense of the air carriers after they had been settled with the application committee. Besides, Utair Airlines did the same.

The extra symbols on the airplanes and the mentioning of Yekaterinburg are expected to promote the city's name awareness on the international arena and to serve as additional publicity for the place.
