Uralvagonzavod Considers Concept for TankProm Museum

8 April 2013 (09:23)

April 8, 2013. A portion of the conference on the tank-building industry in the 20th century (its history, historiography, museums, and books on the subject) that was held at Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s head plant was dedicated to discussing the concept for the TankProm Museum. The potential museum’s target audience, special programs that it could run, the expediency of the chosen name and location, the availability of exhibits at the moment, and other issues were considered, Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s press service reports.

It is reported that employees of Uralvagozavod’s existing company museum offered their proposal on the TankProm Museum scientific research/museum project. They put forth a grand task of accumulating the Russian tank-building industry’s experience and retaining its grand heritage in a museum based in Nizhniy Tagil, for it is there that Uralvagonzavod is located; now Uralvagonzavod is the head plant of Uralvagonzavod Corporation that contributed greatly to the development of the tank-building industry. Moreover, this is currently the only tank-making enterprise in Russia. Uralvagonzavod Corporation unites a number of well-known developers of the most innovative and promising equipment.

Uralvagonzavod’s armored vehicles museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sverdlovsk Region. This is why setting up a tank industry museum in Nizhniy Tagil seems only logical and quite justified.
