November 23, 2012. Uralvagonzavod presented a report on the results of the sports contests held within the company. This large-scale sports event is coordinated annually as a measure to make the workers healthier, and different tours take place throughout the year. Not only the workers from the corporation’s head plant but also the employees of Uralcryomash, Ural Transport Machine-Building Design Bureau, UBT-Uralvagonzavod, the fire and security departments, and some customers’ representatives’ join the contests, Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s press service reports.

In 2012, about 17,000 people from 110 divisions took part in the event. 28 sports competitions in 12 different kinds of sports were held. Among the most large-scale events were the traditional track-and-field relay race, with prizes offered by the company newspaper Mashinostroitel, and a ski trek. This year, 1,650 people joined the relay race, and over 400 people participated in the ski race and the volleyball and mini-football games.

The sports contests also included competing in swimming, shooting, mountain skiing, basketball, chess, hockey, and track-and-field events. The company also invests in table tennis, streetball, and orienteering so that every employee could indulge in the kind of sport he or she likes most.
