Uralvagonzavod holds 72nd track-and-field relay race

June 3, 2014. Uralvagonzavod hosted its traditional 72nd track-and-field relay race for the Mashinostroitel prize. This contest became a whole-corporation event a long time ago. In 2014, 1,370 people ran the traditional 2,775-meter distance.
In addition to Uralvagonzavod sports players, athletes from other member enterprises of Uralvagonzavod Corporation took part in the race. Workers from Nizhniy Tagil-based Uralcryomash, UBT-Uralvagonzavod, Ural Transport Machine-Building Design Office, and Ural Railway Carriage Design Office, Ural Scientific and Technological Division, representatives of Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant and Kamensk-Uralsky Foundry Plant, representatives of Yekaterinburg-based Uraltransmash, Plant 9, and workers from the subsidiary of Volchansky Mechanical Plant all joined in the race, the corporation's press service reports.
The Paralympics ski race and biathlon champion four times over, Deserved Master of Sports, alumna of Sputnik Sports Club Mikhalina Lysova came to welcome the contestants. She wished great success to all the race participants.
The 'family run' was the first and the most important stage of the race. 28 family teams comprised of Uralvagonzavod employees took part in it. The 'family run' distance was 700m: fathers ran the 400-meter leg, mothers ran the 200-meter leg, and kids ran the 100-meter one. The Isaevs were the best family in the Families with 5-8 Year Olds category, the Kazantsevs were the best in the Families with 9-12 Year Olds category, and the Panshins got a special prize for their 'Will to Win'. This prize was set up by Uralvagonzavod trade union. The winning families were presented some home appliances.
