Ural Vagon Zavod holds amateur Olympics

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 9, 2015. Ural Vagon Zavod assessed the results of the year-long series of amateur Olympics dedicated to the V-Day 70th anniversary. There were twenty-five championships altogether, with 23,000 people taking part (+2,000 participants on last year).

According to the corporation‘s press service, the games are held on a yearly basis in order to promote physical culture and sports among the workers. A billiard tournament and a relay race took place for the first time this year.

‘Just like in the previous years, the championships that attract the most participants are the track-and-field relay race (with prizes from Mashinostroitel, the company newspaper), which involved 1,296 people this year, the ski race, which involved 871 people, the volleyball championship, which involved 544 players, and the cross country running contest, which involved 534 people. Besides, over 400 workers join the summer and winter arena football championships every year. Also, quite a few people (626, to be precise) competed for our Ready for Labor & Defense/GTO tokens this year‘, the press service says.

The corporation‘s teams also took part in corporate championships such as Rostech Russian Corporate Teambuilding, a hockey tournament in Moscow, a volleyball and basketball one in Alushta, and an arena football one in Sochi. They also competed for the Ready for Labor & Defense/GTO prizes in the All-Russian Sports Challenge dedicated to the V-Day 70th anniversary and took part in the amateur Olympics organized by the city of Nizhniy Tagil and in the 66th Tagilsky Rabochiy Cup track-and-field relay race this year.
