The Supervisory Board of the Association of Russia’s Mining & Metallurgical Union and the executive committee of Russia’s Mining & Metallurgical Trade Union’s Central Council came up with the results of the Mining & Metallurgical Enterprise with Great Social Efficiency Contest on the eve of Metallurgist’s Day. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) was declared the winner in the Conservation Activity & Resource Saving category and was awarded the diploma of the Russian Federation Industry & Energy Ministry, the Association of Russia’s Mining & Metallurgical Union, and Russia’s Mining & Metallurgical Trade Union.

This is not the first time the company has won in this contest. In 2003, MMK was declared the best enterprise in the Social Infrastructure Maintenance & Development and Implementation of Social Programs category; in 2004, it won in the Cadre Qualifications, Training, and Re-Training category, and in 2005, 2007, and 2010 the socioeconomic efficiency of the company’s collective agreement secured the enterprise a diploma, too.

What is more, MMK staff won in the Russian Enterprise with Great Social Efficiency Contest a number of times (in the Collective Agreement and Personnel Development categories); the contest is coordinated by the Russian Federation Government.

MMK Group deals successfully with issues of labor protection and pay, the maintenance and development of the social sphere, and personnel training; the Group also implements social programs and pays special attention to young workers.
