Thunderstorm Deprives Sredneuralsk Enterprises of Electricity

18 July 2012 (09:19)

SK-Plast, Concern Uralelectroremont, and Rubin Sredneuralsky Winery still have no access to electricity, Oblkommunenergo’s PR Department reports.

The thunderstorm that broke out last weekend collapsed the power generating facilities in Alapayevsk, Turinsk, Verkhniy Tagil, and Polevskoy. At 8:00 PM on July 15, 23 substations stopped working because of a storm, leaving over 1,500 families, 45 legal entities, and seven public infrastructure buildings (a culture club, a hotel, some water-supplying facilities, a winery, the public baths, and a stadium) without electric power supply. Three high-voltage feeders passed out due to tangled cables, fallen trees, and lacerations. The emergency teams kept on working non-stop for eighteen hours. At 2:00 AM on July 17, the private users were re-connected, but, as so much damage was caused by the storm, the industrial enterprises are still waiting to get access to electricity.

Power supply was restored in six parts of Severouralsk area; people are still working on repairing the network and re-hooking the industrial enterprises in Sredneuralsk.
