Chelyabinsk Region to take part in EXPO 2010

A group of officials from Chelyabinsk Region, headed by Governor Mikhail Yurevitch, is going to take part in the World Universal Fair EXPO 2010 in Shanghai on October 18-23, 2010. This is the first time the region is attending the event.

The delegates have a number of goals to achieve, the most important ones being improving on Chelyabinsk Region’s international connections, attracting foreign investment, networking with the business community representatives, and promoting Chelyabinsk Region on the global arena.

The agenda of the Russian pavilion at the fair provides for Chelyabinsk Region Presentation Day on October 19, 2010. The officials from the pavilions of the member states of the CIS, European countries, China, and the countries of the Far East have all been invited to come. On October 20, 2010, direct ‘contact exchange’ will be set up for the foreign firms.

‘EXPO 2010 is an important international event targeted at contributing to the development of scientific and technological innovations and long-term, mutually beneficent cooperation. The Russian Federation constituencies can present their exhibition projects in the Russian pavilion – a two-tier structure with the area of 6,000 sq m where the main tire exposition changes on a monthly basis. 2,000 to 3,000 people visit the pavilion every hour; about 40,000 visitors come there every day,’ Chelyabinsk Region Ministry for Economic Development reports.

Over twenty companies engaged in various kinds of business activity have confirmed coming with Chelyabinsk Region delegation so far. Others still have time to apply to the Ministry for Economic Development before October 1, 2010.
