1 November 2012 (18:15)

November 1, 2012. On October 31, Governor Evgeny Kuivashev is going to sign an agreement with Russia’s Economic Development Ministry on support for Sverdlovsk Region’s foreign economic projects that could attract considerable investments to the area. He will also take part in the ministry panel meeting, the Governor’s Information Policies Department’s press service reports.

The Russia’s Economic Development Ministry is currently trying to make the presence of Russia’s trade representations in other states more visible. The representations are supposed to focus on the promotion of specific projects proposed by Russian federal constituencies. The agreement in question will be dedicated to the development of passports for these projects and coordination of efforts to build foreign economic ties.

Sverdlovsk Region already has some foreign economic cooperation experience. What is more, the region has an impressive legislative base for supporting investment and export activity and for liaising with trade representations. Besides, the Mid-Urals are interested in promoting specific economic projects like the Titanium Valley Special Economic Zone. The federal authorities are also interested in the region due to plans to hold some high-profile international events in the Mid-Urals; these are the world computer programming championship, the World Cup 2018, and EXPO 2020 Universal Exhibition. This is why it is particularly important that such an agreement is to be signed.
