NLMK ships 19% less steel in 2010

20 July 2010 (09:25)

Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Works (NLMK) section division (managed by OOO NLMK-Sort) sold 686,000 tons of metal goods to customers in the first half of 2010; this was 5% less than in the first half of 2009.

According to the company’s official report, the 14% drop in the rod-shaped reinforcing bar sales (these went down to 375,000 tons) was made up for by the growing sales of other products. For one, the enterprise sold 82,000 tons of coil-shaped reinforcing bars (which was 42% more than a year earlier), 38,000 tons of wire rods (which was 15% better than a year earlier), and 104,000 tons of metal goods (which was 22% better than a year earlier). In addition, 84,000 tons of steel work-pieces were sold, which was actually 19% less than in the first half of 2009.

Most of NLMK-Sort’s produce was sold on the home market, so the company was responsible for 20% of the reinforcing bars, 18% of wire rods, and 21% of low-carbon metal goods that hit the Russian market.

Given NLMK’s export sales, the reinforcing bars made up 67% of all the sales, wire rods constituted 6% of all the sales, and metal goods and steel work-pieces made up 15% and 12% of all the sales, respectively.
