NLMK-Sort’s Metal Goods Sales Decline 6% in First Half of 2012

25 July 2012 (18:33)

In the first half of 2012, NLMK-Sort’s enterprises sold 660,000 tons of reinforcing bars (4% better than a year earlier), 139,000 tons of metal goods (14% better than a year earlier), and 62,000 tons of rolled wire (26% less than a year earlier). All in all, 863,000 tons of metal goods were sold, which was 6% less than in the first half of 2011, the press service of NLMK Yekaterinburg subsidiary NLMK-Ural reports.

‘The decrease in the general amount of sales has to do with our giving up on the financially inexpedient shipments of semi-finished products and rolled wire abroad,’ the company reports.

Nearly 99% of NLMK-Sort’s produce was sold on the home market; the company’s share of the domestic reinforcing bars market came to over 18%, that of the rolled wire market came to 17%, that of low-carbon metal goods – to 22%. Exports were made to the CIS, Europe, and the Middle East. Reinforcing bars, rolled wire, and metal goods’ shares in the company’s sales structure amount to over 76%, 7%, and 16%, respectively.

In the first half of the year, Vtorchermet NLMK enterprises shipped over 1.22m tons of their own scrap metal to consumers.
