AMUR to assemble Renault’s Midlum trucks

9 July 2010 (08:54)

‘Renault Trucks and AMUR car factory are going to sign a framework agreement on their truck-assembling project on July 16, 2010, in the course of the upcoming InnoProm 2010 exhibition. The agreement will mean that Renault’s intermediary Midlum trucks will now be assembled in Novouralsk, Sverdlovsk Region, on the premises of ZAO AMUR. The negotiations took one and a half years to complete; Sverdlovsk Region, ZAO AMUR, and Renault Trucks reached an understanding on the point of cooperation in February 2010,’ Minister for International and Foreign Economic Relations of Sverdlovsk Region Alexander Kharlov said at the press conference dedicated to InnoProm’s participants, the world’s industrial leaders.

Still, Alexander Kharlov declared at the end of June that Renault’s workers and their trade unions protested against the Russian-French initiative because of France’s dangerous unemployment rate.

‘Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk Region’s chain stores have already shown some interest in this project. At the moment, a Renault Trucks representative is already working on some technical issues with AMUR’s management on the plant’s premises,’ the Minister observed.
