Yekaterinburg customers go for economy cars, Toyota Center says

‘Local drivers are buying 12% more Toyota cars lately, so our center sold about 20% more cars in the first half of 2008 compared with the first half of 2007,’ Toyota Center Yekaterinburg Vostok reports.

The car center’s experts say the most popular car makes are Corolla, Avensis, Auris, RAV4, and Camry, usually in silver and black.

In the first half of 2008, Toyota Camry, a business class car, became about 9% (80,000 to 100,000 RUR) less expensive due to the fact that it is now assembled at a Russian factory. In addition, the delivery grew speedier for most models, as Toyota’s delivery quotas were raised.

Toyota Center Yekaterinburg Vostok feels people haven’t stopped buying bigger cars due to fuel price increase; at the same time, they tend to grow more interested in baby and economy cars, since they are easier to park, more maneuverable, and less costly to maintain. However, big automobiles are still popular with those who need them for business trips, going to the countryside, and so on.
