MegaFon Ural launches Mobile TV
17 December 2007 (09:03)
MegaFon Ural has recently launched its newest Mobile TV project; television programs can now be broadcast onto the screen of your mobile phone. At the moment, programs are available from three television channels: these are A-One, Music Box Ru, and Vesti-24. MegaFon Ural is currently negotiating with twelve more channels.
'We are not expecting the demand for Mobile TV to be very high for the time being, as the service is little known in Russia as of yet. Still, foreign marketing agencies report mobile TV viewing is very popular in Japan, Korea, and Italy,’ MegaFon Ural’s GD Denis Malyshev says.
For someone to use this service, their mobile phone must support 3Gp or Real Media; today, these technologies are incorporated in phones of all price categories. MegaFon Ural’s charges are the same as those for Mobile Internet.
