MegaFon Ural presents PTT at InfoCom International Forum

30 October 2007 (07:28)

MegaFon Ural, one of Russia’s major mobile operators, presented its new service known as Push-To-Talk (PTT) at InfoCom, the 7th International Forum/Exhibition held in Yekaterinburg.

The spokesperson for the company reports PTT makes it possible to use one’s mobile phone as a portable radio, but unlike with the conventional walkie-talkies, its radio range is virtually unlimited, so, thanks to the use of GPRS/EDGE technologies, MegaFon Ural’s customers can now use PTT within the network coverage area and when using the company’s roaming services.

In addition, MegaFon Ural’s stand presented plenty of information on the operator’s tariffs and services; visitors to the fair were given some branded souvenirs as well.

InfoCom is Russia’s only exhibition that is held simultaneously in six federal districts (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar, Samara, Irkutsk, and Yekaterinburg); what is more, the opening ceremony is usually synchronized in all the six places with the help of video conferencing and the Internet. The exhibition features the newest IT and communication technologies breakthroughs and shows ways of applying them in business, state governance, and public life.
