First Deputy Head of Russian Federation Government to chair meeting of Commission on Problems of the Defense-Industrial Complex in Yekaterinburg

President Vladimir Putin met members of the Russian Government on April 16, 2007 to discuss the report of First Deputy Head of Government Sergey Ivanov on the agenda of the meeting of the Commission on Problems of the Defense-Industrial Complex under the Russian Federation Government to be held in Yekaterinburg on April 19, 2007, reports the spokesperson for the Governor of Sverdlovsk Region.

Mr. Ivanov said the meeting would be attended by a number of governors and industrial enterprises executives and was mainly targeted at finding the ways of implementing the achievements of Russian defense industry in the country’s innovational economic development, that is, the ways of converting military technologies into civilian ones quickly and efficiently.

‘I intend to pay a visit to Uralmash since our aim is to examine everything the plant has to offer in terms of machine-building and production of mining equipment,’ he explained.

President Putin asked Mr. Ivanov to draw up a report on the results of his upcoming visit.
