City council considers withdrawing Noviy Grad’s misused land allotments
16 April 2007 (07:34)
‘The city council compiled a database of people who invested their money in housing construction in Yekaterinburg but appear to have been deceived by the builders. In addition, a special investor file has been created that is used to compile the database. What is more, an ad hoc committee is now trying to sort out these people’s problems,’ chairman of Right to a Dwelling Vasiliy Ganzhin said to UrBC.
‘Among other things, the committee will look into affairs of Noviy Grad, the local developer; it is now considering withdrawing their misused land allotments in Artelniy Lane and Roshchinkaya-Yakutskaya-Patriotov St. and giving them to another developer who will actually build something there. The second area was supposed to have been used for putting up a whole block of about 12 buildings, but in fact, there are only 2 buildings with certain construction faults there now,’ Mr. Ganzhin says.
‘The committee also intends to lobby Sverdlovsk Region Government to make sure the issue is resolved as soon as possible and the maximum numbers of the unfortunate investors are involved.’
