Ural Turbine Works sets up e-management system

24 October 2006 (14:54)

The top-management of Ural Turbine Works CJSC (part of Renova Group) is going to rearrange control of the enterprise on a new hi-tech basis. The corporate re-equipment program includes introduction of an ERP (enterprise resource planning) system.

‘Although introducing the system is rather laborious, the experience of many Russian and foreign manufacturers has shown that such systems prove to be efficient indeed. Setting up an integrated information space, they support on-line management of the basic assets and ensure transparency of planning through optimization of different processes. As a result, one gets a significant reduction in costs and a speed-up in production,’ says GD of Ural Turbine Works Vitaly Nedelsky.

Therefore, as early as November 2006, the company is going to begin installation of Documentum EDMS. This system will connect databases of different company’s subdivisions into an integrated network. By the second half of 2007, the company will purchase and install Pro/ENGINEER CAD. The decision concerning purchase and installation of ERP system is still in the preparatory stage.

Related issues were discussed at the ERP-Dialogues-2006 Third International Forum held from October 11 to 13, 2006 in Switzerland. Together with other top-management of Russian and CIS companies’ representatives, Mr Nedelsky and IT-director of Ural Turbine Works Viktor Nasobin considered various modifications of ERP systems, some results of their introduction and the ways of solving specific management problems on their basis. The information was reported by PR-department of Ural Turbine Works CJSC.
