During last weekend, field trouble crews of Komenergo CJSC, part of IES-holding, had to deal with various breakdowns caused by the recent thunderstorms that damaged some parts of electrical equipment. This was reported by the company’s PR-department.

On August 12, 2006, a fault of a 4-kilovolt aerial circuit occurred in Pervouralsk (Sverdlovsk Region) due to a falling tree. In the same town, an electric cross of a 4-kilovolt aerial circuit blown two high-voltage fuses.

In Berezovsky (Sverdlovsk Region), a fault of two spans of a 10-kilovolt aerial circuit shut down the power supply for a number of owner-occupied dwellings. The fault occurred near midnight. The power supply was recovered near 1 PM, when the reclamation works were completed. Another power supply shutdowns occurred in Krasnouralsk (Sverdlovsk Region), the recovery took 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Another breakdown happened in Sysert (Sverdlovsk Region) on August 11, 2006. At 2:30 PM, a pine-tree fell on conductors of an aerial circuit supplying 6 summer camps, some dwellings and Lavrushensky Hydraulic Works. Here, the circuit and the power supply were recovered by 9:45 PM. On August 12, 2006, a base insulator in the same town took a hit from a car, which produced a short circuit that shut down the power supply for a number of dwellings, a kindergarten, a hotel and a pottery. To deal with the breakdown, the field trouble crews had to draw some personnel away from the scheduled repair works. Due to their prompt reaction, the feeder, the circuit and the power supply were recovered by 5:51 PM.
