FGC UES Completes Upgrades at Irtysh Power Substation
3 December 2018 (10:23)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 3, 2018. Federal Grid Company United Energy Systems completed the primary upgrades of its 500-kilowatt Irtysh Power Substation, the key power source for the Tobolsk area, FGC UES Western Siberia’s press service reports.
The company engineers replaced all the cross-connect appliances and installed the modern micro-processing protection and automation relays. This is meant to make the power supply to end users in Tyumen Region’s Tobolsk area — large oil and gas and petrochemical companies — even more reliable. The reconstruction is estimated to have required RUB 335 million in investments.
The new cross-connect equipment, including six up-to-date SF 6 circuit-breakers, will also reduce the station’s own power spending and create more room at the substation. The fourteen new high-frequency chokes and the thirty-six electrically actuated disconnecting switches make it possible to shut some parts of the circuit down remotely for maintenance and repairs. Forty-eight extra disconnecting switches and eleven more chokes will get installed at the substation before the end of next year.
