31 January 2020 (09:14)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 31, 2020. Shishimskaya Gorka Art Residence in Yekaterinburg will soon be hosting the local artist and photographer Sergey Poteryaev’s Grand Slam Exhibition, Brusnika Development’s press service reports.
The exhibition is the outcome of a long research project dedicated to documentary photography-related issues. The project focuses on documentary photography and how it can be used in search of post-truth.
‘Unambiguous and apparently legit-looking snapshots serve as puzzles that could fit into a number of different stories. Grand Slam presents the art of photography as both an integral part of propaganda and a tool that can be used to do a critique of it,’ Brusnika’s press service says.
One of the stories will dwell on the American pilot Francis Gary Powers whose plane was spotted and shot down in Sverdlovsk on May 1, 1960.
Irina Kudryavtseva acts as the curator for the project. The exhibition opens at 25 Gastello St at 2 PM on February 1 and will be available through February 10.
