MMK Group Directs RUB 1.8bn to Charity

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, November 22, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Group’s member enterprises directed nearly RUB 1.8bn to charity this year so far, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works and MMK Group’s member enterprises voluntarily take on a range of corporate social responsibility projects in Magnitogorsk and the Urals; they contribute to the infrastructure development in the town and the territories nearby, invest in culture and sports, support social movements, and coordinate culture and sports events in Magnitogorsk,’ the company says.
MMK makes a special emphasis on supporting war veterans, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. MMK Group allocated RUB 338m to projects involving these groups in January-September 2019, including RUB 252m directed to maternity programs.
‘Employee healthcare is another important project. The company keeps working to reduce the worker’s overall disease rate through a series of sub-programs that aim to improve the quality of medical service at Central Clinical Medical/Sanitary Unit and to ensure disease prevention through medical units at production departments and the company clinic and through immunization campaigns and distribution of vitamins. RUB 345.5m got allocated for this project within MMK Group in January-September 2019,’ the company says.
The Group also invests in the workers’ stays at health resorts and in promoting physical culture and sports. These are seen as MMK Group’s priority social programs as well, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
