UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 22, 2019. 80 young trees (30 Lombardy poplars, 30 Norway maple trees, and 20 fir trees) got planted in OOO FORES’s Sukhoi Log sanitary protection zone, the company’s press service reports.
‘The poplars and some of the maple trees are meant to grow in front of the fence that separates the plant from the road leading to Fabrika. The fir trees got planted right next to these, and the remaining maples now grow along the mechanical shop: this is the north-facing part of the plant, where most of our buildings are actually located,’ the company says.
According to head of the plant’s environmental analysis lab Galina Chuvaneva, Lombardy poplars are different from the regular ones in that they produce no fluff; besides, just like Norway maples, they have wide-shaped foliage that serves as an additional noise and dust barrier.
