A two-day public discussion for members of the expert community and general public got coordinated by ChelPipe Group and Urban Analytics Center. Strategic development expert and corporate program moderator at Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Pavel Surkov supervised the group work in the process.
The first day’s foresight session was attended by local and constituency government officials, members of the local business community, NGO representatives, media reporters, and members of the local architectural and cultural networks. The experts evaluated Pervouralsk against the following criteria: youth infrastructure; livability; culture policy; and the town’s image. They then presented their vision of how these aspects of the urban life could evolve.
For one, environmental expert Vladimir Plyusnin stressed the importance of prioritizing tree-planting programs.
‘I hope the program developers will see to it we get new green spots and have an action plan for environmental improvements in one of the area’s major industrial centers,’ he said.
