UrBC, Magnitogorsk, October 11, 2019. The top managers of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Group’s MMK METIZ met with the company trade union’s leaders at MMK METIZ Culture Palace, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
MMK METIZ currently employs more than 4,000 people, 98% of whom are trade union members.
According to Chair of MMK METIZ Trade Union Elena Ramazanova, ‘the thing that matters most for the trade union is to protect and care for the working person. Thanks to the social partnership programs and the company management’s support, we can feel confident about our future and find solutions to all the pressing problems our workers face.’
MMK METIZ’s Director Alexander Mukhin told the trade union representatives about the large-scale reconstruction and modernization the plant has been going through. According to Mukhin, a new high-carbon wire- and rope-manufacturing facility got launched at the plant recently; also, a calibrated rolled steel line will get completed soon. Considerable funds got invested in the fitting-manufacturing facility as well.
The management has grand plans relating to proaction upgrades: starting next year, a five-year investment program will take off on site.
‘The program mostly focuses on import substitution and securing certain market niches for innovative goods,’ Mukhin said.
