UrBC, Magnitogorsk, September 4, 2019. thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions completed its audit of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) coke and by-product process facilities as part of the plant’s environmental program to reduce the facilities’ dust and gas emissions, MMK’s press service reports.
‘A set of measures to improve the coke and by-product process department’s environmental performance is part of MMK’s investment program. The entire department is to undergo major upgrades within the next few years,’ the press service says.
The external audit was meant to determine the facilities’ actual technical condition in terms of tech performance and environmental footprint; assess the current state of affairs and come up with relevant guidelines on repairs and maintenance; gauge the facilities’ optimization potential; and suggest additional steps that could be taken in terms of environmental protection.
During their inspection of the production department, thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions relied on drones for online diagnostics of hard-to-access facilities.
