Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works Invests RUB 115m in Sports in 2018

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, August 12, 2019. Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Sports Club currently acts as the implementor of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) social welfare project on promoting physical culture, sports, and a healthy lifestyle among MMK’s employees and their families. The club operates an extensive sports facility infrastructure to achieve these goals.
According to MMK’s Information, PR & Advertising Department, thirty Healthy Living sports events got coordinated on the club’s various sites in 2018. More than 3,300 people took part in ten winter sports contests and nine summer sports contests. MMK directed RUB 115.5m to its Healthy Living Program in 2018, including the funds to maintain Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Sports Club and to coordinate sporting events. MMK Group allocated RUB 130m for the purpose altogether.
Now Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Sports Club is a non-profit organization and one of Russia’s largest sports clubs, with some 15,000 members.
‘The primary goal is to involve people of all ages in sports, physical activities and healthy living practices, and to provide leisure opportunities. The club runs a number of sports facilities, including a track-and-field stadium with a climbing wall, a ping-pong hall, a multimedia-equipped shooting range, a sand-floor gym, an aqua sports/rowing station, football/volleyball pitches, a mini golf range, a paintball range, a mountain ski slope for beginners, a skiing piste, a motor-racing track, and a go-cart racing range. We’re also a certified Ready for Labor and Defense (GTO) center, so people of all ages can qualify for their GTO status in every kind of sport that is on the All-Russian Ready for Labor and Defense Sports Complex list,’ MMK says.
