UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 30, 2019. The Walk of Finance opened in Yekaterinburg’s District Akademichesky on the eve of the Russian Finance Ministry’s 100th anniversary.
We planted some willow trees here last fall; the trees are quite small just now, but we hope they’ll eventually grow into a large, beautiful canopy that will protect the walkers from the summer heat. We’d like this to be more than just an alley: this is meant as a landmark and a venue for all sorts of financial literacy events, Vice Governor of Sverdlovsk Region and Sverdlovsk Region Finance Minister Galina Kulachenko said at the opening ceremony.
Regional Financial Literacy Center representatives and members of the Urals finance community, who contributed to the creation of the walk, all took part in the ceremony. They were among those who planted one hundred willow trees earlier and helped introduce information plates with useful tips on personal finance management there.
Now Sverdlovsk Region adopted a financial literacy program in 2018. Ural State Economic University’s Regional Financial Literacy Center acted as the program operator and coordinated a series of events for over 15,000 school students (as well as adults).
