MMK Upgrades Enterprise Software

4 April 2019 (09:15)

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, April 4, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) recently launched an updated version of its Oracle e-Business Suite v.12 enterprise information system, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

The previous version of Oracle e-Business Suite got introduced at MMK in 2004. Oracle then announced the launch of the software at MMK was the best enterprise software project in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. MMK and Oracle signed an agreement in February 2018 to have the plant’s then active version of the software migrate to v.12 and to introduce the new version at MMK METIZ and MMK United Service Company.

Throughout 2018 and early 2019, the project team and Oracle experts worked together to transfer to the new information system and get it customized, to have all the data converted properly, and to ensure user training. MMK Group’s business processes also got optimized and unified through a single enterprise information system.

‘The optimization procedure touched upon production process management, stock management, repairs, purchases (including electronic ones), finance, HR (including salary accounting), projects, orders, and sales. We now have clear end-to-end information flow to model the plant’s processes and make forecasts as to their outcomes. We managed to reduce the number of old customized settings drastically and to introduce quite a few improvements that enhance the company’s operational efficiency,’ says MMK Director for Economic Affairs Andrei Yeremin.

All the software migration-related jobs to switch MMK to the new version of Oracle e-Business Suite were completed on schedule, so the system got launched in pilot production mode on April 1.
