UrBC, Magnitogorsk, February 13, 2019. Oracle Modern Business Forum 2019 took place in Moscow on February 7, 2019; Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) contributed with a talk on the company’s experience with Oracle Sourcing-based e-trading platform.

According to MMK’s Information & PR Department, the report was made by Senior Analyst from MMK’s Category-Based Purchases Department Evgeny Trakhtengerz and Senior Expert from MMK Informservis’s Supply Department Andrei Suvorkov.

MMK introduced its own Oracle EBS-based e-trading platform in November 2007. The platform has been open to all potential contractors, including the ones that haven’t been audited by the company first, since 2010. In 2011, a sign-up form was introduced for the company suppliers, and the number of suppliers competing in the online auctions kept growing (from 60 in 2008 to 5,000+ in 2012 to over 7,000 in 2017). The number of unique lots also rose from 751 in 2008 to 52,800 in 2018.

In addition to the sign-up form, the company suppliers can also get their own electronic account where notifications will get sent regarding auctions and auction outcomes; they can also have their bids advertised on MMK’s website.

The e-trading platform has by now been complemented with MMK Supplier, a mobile app that makes the company’s interaction with its suppliers much more efficient. Suppliers can sign in using a text message, monitor the company’s resource needs, get updates on upcoming and current auctions, and subscribe to relevant newsletters.
