Yekaterinburg Gets District Akademicheskiy Work Team

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 28, 2019. Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Vysokinsky supported the idea of a work team to make the city’s District Akademicheskiy yet another administrative district in Yekaterinburg; the proposal was talked over during Vysokinsky’s and Sverdlovsk Region Duma deputies’ meeting with Governor of Sverdlovsk Region.

The procedure to make Akademicheskiy Yekaterinburg’s eighth administrative district is a part of a larger program to celebrate the city’s 300th anniversary in 2023. It has been announced that the new district is expected to boost the development of the city’s south-western territories and to create new growth points.

There are 81,000 people living in Akademicheskiy at the moment; the population count might come to as many as 120,000 residents by 2023.
