Yekaterinburg Duma Agrees to Make Akademicheskiy City’s 8th District
28 November 2019 (09:28)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 28, 2019. Yekaterinburg Duma’s Local Government Committee approved of the initiative to make Akademicheskiy the city’s 8th administrative district; the proposal was presented to the Duma by Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Vysokinsky.
First Vice Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Kovalchik explained that the initiative to create the 8th administrative district in the city would help make the management of the area more efficient.
‘We have the roadmap for the process, with all the papers sent to the federal authorities. What we are waiting for is the official documentation. Everything needs to get completed by 2023, including the launch of all the centers and establishments that are necessary for the district to fully function. The locals will be able to enjoy quality service; this part of Yekaterinburg has already grown into a specific community, so the people there will be provided with a single decision-making center, whereas we, as the municipal authorities, will be able to ensure better management of the district,’ Kovalchik said.
The committee approved of the project and will have it considered at the next Duma meeting. Once the proposal has been approved there, the initiative will be introduced as a discussion point for Sverdlovsk Region Legislative Assembly.
