Raspadsky Gets 7 New Vehicles

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 26, 2019. EVRAZ Holding’s member enterprise Raspadsky Quarry keeps replacing its special vehicles with newer versions. Seven new vehicles got launched lately: an excavator, an oil rig, and five open-pit dump trucks. Also, a bulldozer arrived in December, Raspadskaya Coal Company’s PR Department reports.

The special-purpose vehicles cost around $9.3m to buy. All of these came to replace their obsolete, worn-out predecessors. All the new units meet the current international industrial safety requirements.

‘Five Caterpillar 777E dump trucks that were made by the quarry’s order have been adjusted to make coal transportation more efficient. The enlarged skip section is big enough for 93,000 kg of coal, whereas a regular-sized truck would only fit 90,000 kg of rock material and only 50,000 kg of coal,’ the company says.

The bulldozer (Caterpillar D10T) will be used to handle the rock on the surface dumps, get working areas ready for drilling, and build roads on the site. This is the second Caterpillar D10T bulldozer Raspadsky Quarry now operates.

The oil rig (Sandvik D50KS) is meant for making wells up to 45 meters deep. This is the fifth Sandvik D50KS rig EVRAZ miners can now use; in terms of technical parameters, this rig type is better suited for the quarry’s specific mining and geological conditions than any other model.

‘The excavator (Caterpillar 390 F) has a scoop with the capacity of 5 m3, which makes it possible to work through the coal bed more efficiently and to produce coal with very low ash content. The excavator’s capacity comes to as much as 150,000 m3 of rock mass a month. The up-to-date variety has already been tested by the miners before and proved to offer a very good productivity/maintenance costs ratio,’ the company says.
