MMK Managers, Officials, Businesses to Discuss Environmental Project in Chelyabinsk Region

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, March 4, 2019. President of the Russian Union of Industrialists & Entrepreneurs’ Chelyabinsk Region division and Chair of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Board of Directors Viktor Rashnikov is going to coordinate the Union Board’s meeting on March 1, 2019. The agenda of the meeting covers Ekologia, a national environmental project, and diversification programs within the defense industry.
According to MMK’s Information & PR Department, the meeting will be held at MMK’s ski resort Abzakovo. Chelyabinsk Region Government’s top officials, representatives of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation (VPK), Vice President of the Russian Union of Industrialists & Entrepreneurs, representatives of Chelyabinsk Region’s ministries in charge of economic issues, Russian State Duma deputies, Chelyabinsk Region Legislative Assembly deputies, members of the Federation Council, Business Rights Commissioner in Chelyabinsk Region, mayors of local towns, and members of Chelyabinsk Region business community are all going to attend the event.
Russian President’s executive order on Ekologia Project (the parts relating to Clean Air Project and Clean Water Project) will be the key topic at the meeting. Based on the President’s Executive Order On National Goals and Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation through to 2024 (No. 204) dated May 7, 2018, the Russian Government adopted a comprehensive plan to bring down the amount of harmful air emissions in Magnitogorsk at the end of last year.
MMK’s projects that are part of MMK Clean City Initiative will become the crucial part of the plan. The projects are expected to reduce air emissions by over 18,000,000 kg. The company intends to invest more than RUB 38 in the environmental projects between 2018 and 2025.
