MegaFon: Sverdlovsk Region Has 2m 4G Device Users

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 1, 2019. According to MegaFon, there are now over two million 4G-supporting gadgets in Sverdlovsk Region right now. The new gadgets get registered faster than the LTE-supporting ones: every one in seven 4G-supporting gadget users bought two devices in the last twelve months.
MegaFon’s press service says large-display smartphones by Samsung, Vertex, Xiaomi, Apple, and Honor proved the market’s bestsellers. Their owner uses 9 Gb worth of online traffic a month on average, which is 33% more than one year earlier.
‘Online content gets ‘heavier’: our customers are increasingly more interested in watching videos, exchanging photos and audio messages on social networks and messenger services, and playing games. This means our 4G network traffic increased by 2.5 times in the last year. The average workload our base stations need to handle is more than 12m Gb a month. To make sure everything gets uploaded/downloaded fast, we introduced this fourth-generation network in Russia,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Tech Director Anton Scherbakov.
