Gorod Pervykh Holds Recycling Day in Pervouralsk
27 February 2019 (09:20)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 27, 2019. Gorod Pervykh, a local movement supported by ChelPipe Group, coordinated a recycling/waste separation event (UtiliZatsiya) in Pervouralsk for the first time ever, the Group’s press service reports.
A garbage/recycling collection point was set up in the city’s main square, so locals could take their paper, plastic, and metal waste as well as used batteries there. More than a hundred residents of Pervouralsk joined in the several-hour event; the movement volunteers took in 1,000 kg of paper-based waste, around 300 kg of used batteries, and over 100 kg of plastic and aluminum items.
‘Everything has been handed over to waste-processing companies for recycling; the money from the paper and metal recycling (around RUB 10,000) has been donated to Pervouralsk animal shelter. We intend to make this a regular event, with the fluorescent bulb collection day scheduled for the end of March,’ says Gorod Pervykh coordinator Evgeny Krylov.
Every person who took part in the event received a Gorod Pervykh souvenir. Those who brought the largest amounts of recycling also received gift certificates.
