UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 21, 2019. Activists from the ChelPipe Group-supported environmental NGO Gorod Pervykh are going to coordinate the town’s first Things: Second Life Eco-Festival at ChelPipe Group’s Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant’s Culture Palace on November 23.
‘The program of the event covers recyclable materials pickup, clothes and plant swap, and environmental upcycling workshops that are open to everyone,’ ChelPipe Group’s press service says.
Several venues will be open for the visitors. You can bring your old newspapers, plastic, glass, metal items, and used fluorescent lightbulbs and batteries to UtiliZatsiya; Darmarka accepts your old clothes, shoes, accessories, and home decor items that are in good condition; you can also collect the things that other people have donated. Finally, there will be a plant and book swap site.
‘Things: Second Life is the first large-scale eco-festival in Pervouralsk. UtiliZatsiya and Darmarka are already popular with the locals, and this time all the events get merged into a single day; the idea is to show how you can use fewer resources by reusing things,’ says Gorod Pervykh activist Danila Shestakov.
This is a charity event. All the funds collected in the course of recycling will get directed to Pervouralsk Animal Protection Society, and the things left over at Darmarka will be handed over to charities which work with the poor and homeless.
