EVRAZ Holding To Start New Coal Bed at Yesaulskaya Mine
31 January 2019 (09:44)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 31, 2019. EVRAZ Holding is currently working on an investment project to develop Coal Bed 29a of its Yesaulskaya Mine (estimated reserves: more than 10,000,000,000 kg of valuable GZh coking coal). The company intends to start developing the coal bed in the first quarter of 2020, which will require over RUB 1.5bn in investments, EVRAZ Holding’s Raspadskaya Coal Company reports.
‘Four stoping teams are now busy preparing Coalface 29-37 (total distance: 11.5 km). The miners are using a new set of equipment, including Russian-made combines and self-propelled railcars,’ the company says.
Special attention gets paid to workers’ safety: exhaust gases get removed from the mine and shafts with the help of a surface decontamination station; gas-sucking venting appliances will also get installed outside the mine to remove the gas along an ad hoc gas drainage entry.
Miners and their equipment reach the immediate stoping site with the help of up-to-date diesel/hydraulic locos operating on a monorail. The extracted coal will get transported to the storage site by belt haulage. The mine workers operating at Coalface 29-37 will be able to use a highly productive coalface system.
Once the company starts working on a new coalface, the annual coal output is expected to rise from 1,400,000,000 kg to 2,000,000,000 kg a year.
