UrBC, Magnitogorsk, January 29, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) hot-roll Mill 2000 set yet another output record last year, when 6,200,000,000 kg of hot-rolled goods got produced in the course of twelve months, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

The previous record got set at the end of 2016, when the year’s output figure reached 5,948,000,000 kg of hot-rolled produce. In 2018, the figure was 6,200,000,000 kg.

‘The plant’s most productive rolling mill is located at Sheet-Rolling Department 10. The mill is one of Russia’s most powerful and advanced units. The equipment is suited for rolling all kinds of steels currently in use, with sheet width ranging from 760 mm to 1,830 mm. Mill 2000 can make a wider range of rolled products than any other equipment at the plant, that is, around a thousand different product types. These rolled goods can use used in the pipe-making, machine-building, and construction industries. Some of our steels are also suitable for shipbuilding and construction frames, and a certain rolled produce variety is used for making automobile body sheets,’ MMK says.

This hot-roll Mill 200 got launched in 1994 and then upgraded in the mid-aughts. The upgrades involved adding the fourth heating furnace, which boosted the unit’s overall productivity; replacing the mill’s mechanical equipment, which made it possible to manufacture thicker sheets and improved the product’s mechanical properties; and renewing the automated appliances, which resulted in the mill operation becoming fully automated. The mill has been operating at its full capacity for the last few years. By 2015, Mill 2000 had put put more than 100,000,000,000 kg of hot-rolled goods.
